Hi, I’m Florence.
If you’re looking for the clarity to make wise decisions that lead to your definition of success, with a whole lot more easy and joy, I can help.
I launched a patchwork career after a quarter life crisis, long before I knew that either of things things were even, well, things.
Learning and teaching have always been like breathing for me, and I wanted to be a teacher from the time I can remember. Dire warnings about “no jobs and no money in teaching” led me to a degree in political science, an MBA, and a career in hospital administration until, in my late 20s, I went back for a degree in music education.
(Try to imagine that conversation with my parents. I’m quitting the job where I make more than you, Dad, to become a music teacher. Have some more wine!)
After over twenty years of teaching kindergartners through senior citizens in public and private schools, churches, and community choirs, I was beaten down and burned out, mostly from the what the public school system had become.
It was way past time for me to take another leap, one that felt much more like going forward, and that led to my becoming a Master Wayfinder Coach and the founder of my own coaching and consulting firm.
Best. Leap. Ever.
Teaching, Learning, and Serving
Teaching and learning have always been two of my passions, and I’m delighted to combine them in ways that help others craft a work life and life’s work where they can make a difference and experience abundance, ease, and joy.
I’ve been the youngest department head amid a much more experience staff, the oldest team member reporting to a way younger boss, and nearly everything in between in non-profits, health care institutions, public and private K-12 schools, and large businesses. I’ve been the visionary and inspiring leader (so I’ve been told) as well as the disgruntled, disengaged employee, and I truly believe I brought the intention to make things better to every situation.
I bring all of my strengths, skills, and insights to coaching individuals at various inflection points in their careers, to teaching groups that include young children learning outdoors, corporate and nonprofit teams learning to work more effectively together, and executives crafting strategy.
My intention is always to help clients tap into their inner wisdom and gain the clarity they need to make wise decisions that support their making a positive difference in the world with more ease and joy.
Experience and Training
College 1.0: a BS in Public Administration at Kutztown University (where I embraced by my Pennsylvania Dutch heritage and picked up the accent in no time, dontcha know) and an MBA in Health Care Management from Widener University. College 2.0: BS in Music Education/Voice from West Chester University.
One of my proudest achievements is my MM in Music Education/Choral Conducting from Westminster Choir College, a magical realm of musical excellence in Princeton and the only conservatory of its kind on the planet.
My coach training includes Master Wayfinder Coach Certification from the Martha Beck Institute, training in applied positive psychology from the pLink Center for Coaching Excellence, nature-based coaching from the Sagefire Institute, and Career Invention Coaching from Executive Coach Michele Woodward and Master Business Coach Pamela Slim. Most recently, I became a trained practitioner of Crystalline Consciousness TechniqueTM.
I’m certified to administer and interpret the Myers-Briggs Type IndicatorTM, DiSC 2.0 and DiSC 363+, and The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team, and am trained to interpret the VIA Survey of Character Strengths and Clifton StrengthsFinder 2.0.
Like hoagies, the Slinky, and Tina Fey, I was born and raised in Delco (Delaware County, Pennsylvania), and I work with clients worldwide, often my home office fifteen miles, as the eagle flies, from Independence Hall.
When I’m not coaching, you can find me singing with Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia, quoting show tunes and Jimmy Buffett songs, exploring the woods at Tyler Arboretum, counting the days until I can return to my beloved Ocean City, NJ, and oversharing the latest antics of Elphaba, the formerly stray bunny who stole my heart and creates havoc in my office.
